More about the Different Forms of Ballroom Dances
The fame of ballroom dancing can be attributed to its use both for fun and for competition purposes. The two main dances that make up ballroom dancing are The American and the international standard dance. The international dance has managed to pull a larger crowd. Ballroom dance is an art designed not only to entertain but to send a particular message. Examples of ballroom dances are the waltz, Viennese waltz ,foxtrot and tango and many others. The facts on these forms of dances will make it easier for an individual to choose which one’s are more suitable for them.
The waltz is basically a dance that is devoid of any dramatic movements. It is characterized by moving along a line of dance. The dance is exhibited by a rise and fall action that is achieved by stepping ,sliding and taking a three quarter step. The dancers’ shoulders should be moved smoothly parallel with the floor. The objective is usually to increase the step taken. In the initial beat of music a step is taken on the heel ,then onto the ball of the foot and extend to the toes in the second and third order of music. At the finalization of the third step the dancers should lower their heels to their starting position.
The classical aspect and rotational movements are elements of the Viennese waltz. The partners rotate on the floor while revolving around each other. The pace at which it is performed rivals the classical dance in speed. There is a classification of it that may be performed in social functions as it can be easily carried out. It features sweeping turns and graceful motions that exude an image of simplicity and elegance.
The foxtrot dance features side steps and walking steps. The characteristic long motions , rise and fall actions basic in the waltz are applied in a smoother fashion. The dance line shares some resemblance with that of a waltz but the diversity is portrayed clearly in the timing. The steps may be quickened or slowed utilizing a beat or two in that order.
The tango has appealed to a larger audience. It’s reception may be due to its characteristic romantic ambience associated with it. The presence of both parties of the opposite sex is necessitated. It is comprised of distinct dance steps all under the same wing. A tight or a more relaxed embrace may be observed in diverse forms of tango. The closed embrace features close touch of the chest or hip area while the open embrace sees the partners enjoy the dance while maintaining their personal space.The ballroom dance encompasses movements that convey feelings that have not been uttered.
